F is for Frog
August 26, 2008 on 10:35 am | In Henry | 3 CommentsI didn’t have any updated bathtub pictures, so I took some last night. In 70% of the pictures he was chewing on a frog. And not the same frog. He has three different frogs for the bath (that I got at my baby shower) and he gave them all equal chewing time.
So, we have the big frog…
Small frog #1…
And small frog #2…
Visions of the future
August 25, 2008 on 3:54 pm | In Henry | 1 CommentSo, yesterday Henry was determined to go to daddy (who was all the way across the house in our bedroom). So, he started crawling to the bedroom from the sun room. And silly me was behind him saying, “Do you need help? I can help you. Let me carry you to daddy!” Then I stopped and wondered if this was a vision of the future, me running behind him with my arms out begging him to let me help him as he crawls/runs/speeds away.
My baby is growing up…
August 19, 2008 on 4:22 pm | In Henry | 2 CommentsI got Henry one of those walk’n ride toys on Sunday and this is what followed me into the kitchen Monday night (daddy is off to the left and pushed him in from the sun room). He can even walk with it but most of the time he stands, pushing it back and forth to maintain his balance (which is pretty impressive).
I’ll also admit that I’m a lazy mommy who feeds her baby canned baby food (100% fruit and veggie, no sugar added). But my in-laws gave us some peaches and I made my first homemade baby food (also 100% fruit). I have enough for 6 breakfasts I think. I don’t see the difference between buying baby food in a jar that is 100% fruit or veggie and making it myself from fruits and veggies I buy at the grocery store. So, my plan is to only made homemade baby food from items that either I or someone I personally know grew.

Beep…

Mommy’s Monkey’s
August 11, 2008 on 2:19 pm | In Henry, Knitting | 3 CommentsWe had a family birthday party for my mom’s milestone birthday. She got the same gift as my sister. A pair of socks and a Caribbean cruise (the three of us leave in one month!). These are knit with Knit Picks Color Your Own Sock yarn. Since yellow is my mom’s favorite color, I dyed them to be slightly variegated. I think I did these with the Machine Knitting to Dye For method (which Knit Picks now sells as blanks).

I’ve seen this on a couple of other blogs so I sent this to the Thermalhubby (Mr T.). His answers are really funny…
Me: What is your favorite thing about my knitting?
Mr T: Socks… oooh socks
Me: What is your least favorite thing about my knitting?
Mr T: Random projects lying around the house and the time we lost the cat for three days in a pile of yarn
Me: What is something I have knitted that you recall as being good?
Mr T: oooh… socks… mmmm… I’m sorry what was the question?
Me: Do you think knitters have an expensive hobby?
Mr T: Not compared with those crazy cross stitchers.
Me: Do you have any hobbies?
Mr T: Sure
Me: What are your hobbies?
Mr T: Leather working, gardening, Kendo, catapult design and building
Me: If we compared money spent on hobbies, who would win?
Mr T: Probably me (The pumpkins for catapulting put me over the top)
Me: Has my knitting in public ever embarrassed you?
Mr T: Not since you stopped knitting while driving.
Me: Do you know my favorite kind of yarn?
Mr T: …ah …sure …ah …next question please
Me: Can you name another blog?
Mr T: Yeah sure… um… there’s the one… with the ah… next question please
Me: Do you mind that I want to check out yarn stores everywhere we go?
Mr T: They sell yarn in stores now? Then why the heck do we have all these sheep?
Me: Do you understand the importance of a swatch?
Mr T: Yes, tells you the time (i.e. how long you’ve been knitting)
Me: Do you read my blog?
Mr T: You have blog? Is it contagious?
Me: Have you ever left a comment?
Mr T: No, but I have left a tip.
Me: Do you think the house would be cleaner if I didn’t knit?
Mr T: No, I remember the cross stitch days.
Me: Is there anything you would like to add in closing?
Mr T: This is just between you and me right?
Conversations with Henry - This weekend it has felt like I’ve had actual conversations with the little dude. This morning he was playing with my shoe and I needed it back. So after I asked him for it and he eventually let it go (which I thanked him for), I told him he will get his own shoes after he can walk. They would be smaller but one day they would be as big as mommy and daddy’s. So, he holds out his hands so he could pull himself up and then proceeds to “walk”. Yes, you can walk. So, where are your shoes? Funny little guy.
I was also pondering this morning the magic of little boy hugs. Yesterday he wrapped his little arms around me and gave me a nice hug. I think I read some where the difference between little girl and little boys hugs are that the boys hug with their entire body. I’ll have to find a little girl to hug to compare (should have tested the theory on Saturday when I was around my 3yo niece).
