Rhino -land
January 30, 2004 on 1:00 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI finished up all the little tiny x’s on the Rhinos last night at our weekly stitch-fest. I just have backstitching, eyes, and the name left for them. So, great progress for me. I’m getting into the animal groove. I just can’t seem to get into the backstitching over 1 groove. One more set of animals to reach my goal of two sets per week. I also named some of the animals. I haven’t told Marilyn this yet, but I named the koalas after her. So, they are Marilyn and David. I also named the turtles after my DH and me… except I’m going to relabel them terrapins since my SIL, her husband, my DH, and I all went to UMd. I also named the hedgehogs and polar bears after friends. I still have lots left. I think I’m going to name the cats after my sister and her husband. So, if you and your SO want to be called something, let me know. Since this is Noah’s ark, I’m going to restrict the animal names to mating pairs.I’m not anticapting much stitching time this weekend. We are planning on going to my SIL’s house on Sunday since that is our nephew’s birthday. He is turning the big 3. So, on Saturday, we are going toy shopping to get him a present. Right now I’m thinking a plane with wheels. My MIL has the toys still around from my DH and SIL were kids and little nephew likes to play with DH’s old plane. So, I’m thinking about replacing it with a newer version.
And now back to your regularly schedule life…
January 28, 2004 on 1:00 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI think the weather has stopped all its nastiness… at least until Friday I hear. But it has stopped enough that the roads are now all clear and things are no longer being canceled. That means… I have yoga tonight!Band was canceled last night. And a good decision too. The roads were pretty horrible when I left work last night. So, I spent the evening at home with my DH. I made some chocolate ice cream. I tired to put in marshmellow but that jet puff stuff doesn’t work so well when it is cold. Not sure what I was thinking there… I prefer the mini marshmellows any way. I’ll chalk it up to being sick. Yeah, that’s the ticket.I made some progress on Noah’s Ark. I’m having a hard time getting back into the ark. I’m thinking that maybe a week just isn’t enough time for me. But I have to get the Ark finish this year, preferably before my SIL has the baby. The last birth announcement was six months late, so if I follow the same trend I really have until November! I finished up the koala’s. I just needed to backstitch and add the name. Maybe that was why I didn’t want to come back. This was my first backstitching on the animals. The only other animal I did was the panda’s for a RR and that was on dark 32 count fabric. The lighter 28 count really made it better. I let my DH pick the next animal on the bottom border and he choose the Rhino, so now I’m in Rhino-land. Next scan won’t be until Sunday… sorry no pretty pictures to share.
Yuckiness out there…
January 27, 2004 on 1:00 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI got a doctor’s appointment for 11:30 today. They had a message yesterday that they were closed but might open at noon, so I waited and called again at noon. The message then said they were closed and to try again at 8 am on Tuesday. They also suggested I call one of their other offices to schedule an appointment. So, I called the other office to make an appointment at the one near me. I called at 8 to make sure they were open, this time the message said they were closed and to call back at 10 to make sure we are open. So, I called at 10 and someone actually answered! She said they were open for now and that they should be open for my 11:30 appointment… So I went, I peed, I got my ’scripts. Then I braved the roads to head to work. The roads were much worse than I thought they would be. And we are just now getting more sleet with more snow tonight.Gina, yes that is my house. Our landlord owns the house and 50 acres, of which we are only renting the house and one acre. The other 49 acres are rented out to a nearby farmer who currently has cows in the fields. I miss the sheep! Not sure if anyone noticed, but the little shed to the right of the tree in the snow picture is the same shed as the one up top in my header.
Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!

I’m home today sort of a snow/sick day for me. Schools are closed but my work has liberal leave. “I need to go” to the doctor’s but they are closed today because of the snow. Hopefully they will open at noon and I will be able to make an appointment for tomorrow. So, since the roads probably aren’t top notch, it would take me more than my usual 35-45 minutes to get to work… which I just can’t handle today. To answer Christine’s question (gotta love her… without her my blog would have only half the comments that I currently do!)… I’m using Mulberry Belfast for SoOR. I got it in one of the monthly Silkweaver fabric of the month mailing when I belonged. I choose it mostly because I had it, but I was also unhappy with the suggested khaki. I did a floss toss between this one and some neutral ones and this one won.
Great Weekend!
January 25, 2004 on 1:00 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsOkay, the weekend isn’t quite finished yet, but I’m done stitching on Scent of Old Roses so that is all that matters right?I had trouble getting into the SoOR grove this week, but I think I hit my stride Friday evening. I made a lot of progress this week mostly from my time working on it this weekend. We did make it to Ikea yesterday but after that I devoted all my time to SoOR. Here is my most recent progress picture… to compare to what I had before this week… here is a before picture. And here is the now…
