First up is the drill in the Holster… DH made everything (well, except for the Ryobi!).

Next is the holster by itself

And the last one is a closer view of the picture he tooled on it. Click to get an even bigger close up picture (it is a stitch image of about five pictures, so sorry about the seams).

We are out of Propane!

December 14, 2005 on 1:00 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

DH woke me up to the news that we are out of propane. I hope we won’t have to wait a month for Amerigas to get their ass in gear. Remember this company? They are the ones who we tried three times to get the tank at the old house filled and they never followed through. And when Dr Lee finally got the tanks filled they charged something like $2/gal for one load and then $3.50/gallon the following day!

So DH called them last week and they say, we need to fill out some forms, prepay the first delivery, and have an inspection before we can get the propane delivered. No problem. We wait and wait and wait for the forms to arrive (they arrived on Saturday). Meanwhile on Friday the propane truck arrives and can’t fill up the tanks because the shed under the sunroom is lock (well, duh, we didn’t know they were coming!). We ran to WVa (where the Amerigas offices are) to deliver the completed forms on Sunday. But the stupid company has no drop box. We ended up finding a mail box and mailing it to them from a block away. Hopefully they got it yesterday. Probably not Monday since the stupid mail box didn’t get mail collected from it until 3pm. And we still haven’t heard anything about scheduling an inspection (which they will hopefully show up for this time!).

So, now we are out of propane. And gee, it is what 12°F outside? DH said it went into single digits last night. So, we’ve turned off the fireplaces and turned up the baseboard heat. And we have no cooktop right now. I hope the stupid propane truck shows up soon! Even Pushkin is cold!

And the saga continues…

And the saga continues… DH called this morning to ask when we were getting propane since we ran out last night. They say, oh since you are out, we won’t fill up the tank unless someone is there. DH says, okay when can we schedule this. Oh, we don’t schedule that. DH gets pissed and ends the conversation. He goes to lunch and comes back to find a message on his voice mail that says… They couldn’t fill our tanks because there was a lock on the door. Yes, there is a lock on the door, no it isn’t locked. DH unlocked it Monday morning and the reason I know this because I tried to unlock it also. The lock is just hanging there not locked. He tells them this, they say oh, we’ll try again. They call back to say, the tanks weren’t actually empty (probably just not enough in them to keep the pressure up to keep the fireplaces going) and that they filled up the tanks. Thanks and have a nice day. Of course they have told us this crap before (old house) and even responded to our response that the gauge says it isn’t full that it sometimes takes a while for the gauge to respond (bullshit). So, I’ll check the tanks when I get home tonight to see if they are full. Oh and in VA, yes they have to inspect the lines to open a new account, but they can fill the tanks before the inspection is complete.

The Noah Count Down

December 13, 2005 on 1:00 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

I’m pretty sure all I’m going to be talking about for the next two weeks is my progress on Noah’s Ark. Especially if I want to give it to James for Christmas (it is his only gift from us right now, so I NEED to be done!). I worked on the Ark border last night and I estimate that I’m about 65% finished that. I’ll finish that up tonight and start working on the ark scene itself.

I had a doctor’s appointment this morning to get a booster shot for my trip to Honduras next month. So, I got to sleep in a bit and I even had time to take some photos. Up first is of course Noah’s Ark…

Next is the orchid in full bloom. The first bloom opened about a month ago and the last one was probably about two weeks ago.

Noah Update

December 12, 2005 on 1:00 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

I got to work for a couple of hours on Noah’s Ark yesterday. My mom and sister were visiting for the weekend (yearly shopping and baking thingy) so I only got to stitch last night. All that is left on the border are the speciality stitches in the corners and the back stitch from the Musk ox to the Kangaroos and their names and about half the animals French Knots eyes. I backstitched the name in the center and started working on the border of the ark scene. After that it is backstitching the ark, horizon, and waves then I work on the part below the name where the birthday will be. Band practice is finished until January so I have another free evening to work on this. Plus Catherine can’t run on Friday so that gives me a bit more time while DH is testing for his bogu in kendo. I’m also working this weekend some so I might be able to get it some done then (either that or the bear for grandma). It is look good for finishing this up before Christmas. But as I told DH, I’m not even thinking about getting this framed with less than two weeks to go!
