WTF?!

Exactly how am I suppose to harvest this cucumber?

My two turtles were looking all cute inside their turtle log, but this is the best picture I was able to get before they ran away. It isn’t that great, but it has been a while since I posted a picture of them.

Hedgehogs for Humanity!

July 24, 2006 on 12:00 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Well, I think I have five people interested in hedgehogs so far and I’ve only posted on one BB. I’m almost afraid to post on more! I’m definitely becoming a hedgehog factory. It is a good thing these little guys only take a couple of days to make. It would be really funny if I raised most of the money for my trip through hedgehogs. And that would be kind of fitting because accoring to Wiki, hedgehogs are found in parts of Europe, Asia, Africa, and New Zealand! There are no native hedgehogs in the Americas (or Australia).

Introducing Lemon Drop

While stitching this “little” girl this week, all I could think about were lemon drops. So, that is what I named her. She is almost complete, I just need to give her a felted nose (I think I loaned my felting needle to a friend). But today was the birthday party for my mom (who requested a yellow hedgehog in May when the last two were delivered). I think she is going to like living in her new home. She is on top of the fridge right now in a yellow and green kitchen. But I warned mom that I thought Lemon Drop’s err… wide physique was because she was a little too fond of the sweets.

She was knit with two skeins of Brown Sheep Prairie Silk in Leveraged Lemon and one ball of Crystal Palace Splash in Lemonade. I wanted the Lamb’s Pride in worsted, but they didn’t have the right yellow, so Prairie Silk was suggested and I was told it would felt. It felted some, but not as much as I was hoping (thus the wide physique). The yarn shop near work has been under new management for a while now, and they are so much nicer and more helpful than before. I’ll have to stop by more often.

Which brings me to the next two hedgehogs. Mom told me today that she didn’t get into the August church newsletter (missed the deadline) to try to advertise our silent auction we were going to do all next month to raise money for the NZ Habitat for Humanity trip. She also doesn’t think that the hedgehogs will bring in more than $10 (which is my minimum to cover yarn cost). So, I was thinking about maybe doing the silent auction for the two hedgehogs I currently have over the internet. And if there is a lot of interest, I could make more. The one I have almost finished (just needs stuffing and a nose) is pink and the other one is going to similar to my Z but with a dark belly and light paws (exact opposite of what Z has and a bit more orange in the back fur. So, if anyone might be interested, please post. I’ll probably be posting about this on the BB’s I visit.

Success, finally!

Not sure if it was the new power supply or we finally had our heads screwed on right, but my computer is back up and running. I can now say I’ve successfully installed a new cpu and cpu fan on a motherboard. I would have done it all myself, but I was stuck for a while. It took DH a while to figure out that I had forgotten to connect a small secondary power connector on the motherboard. Once that was fixed everything went well.

Still no pictures yet. I have to reinstall Photoshop which is going to be a big pain! I upgraded from an old old version so I had to call Adobe the first time I installed it and will probably have to again. And until then, I don’t have a way to resize photos and I am not going to attempt uploading a 1MB file over dial-up.

The hedgehog factory is doing well, so far it has churned out two hedgehogs (nicknamed Lemon Drop and Strawberries & Cream). They are now drying in the sun room. I hope Lemon Drop is dry some time tomorrow so I finish her up before the birthday party on Sunday.

Still dead

We bought some parts but the computer still isn’t working right. We have one last idea that we’ll try out tonight. After that, we might need to inlist some help (like maybe my BIL who works IT at the Captial).

I’ve finished two hedgehogs (pink for the auction and yellow for my mom) and have one more to go. I’ve ditched the idea of bookmarks for the silent auction. They are taking way longer than I thought and my mom wasn’t going to auction them and just sell them for a fixed price. After seeing how she priced things for the yard sale, I don’t want to spend lots and lots of time on bookmarks that my mom is only going to sell for a few bucks (if that).

I’m really really hoping we get the computer working tonight. I’m busy tomorrow night after work, almost all day Saturday and Sunday. And then Monday I leave for a business trip and won’t be back until Friday of next week.
