Nice day for a Happy Dance
October 14, 2006 on 12:00 am | In Uncategorized | No Commentsor two…
I finished knitting my very very very very last hedgehog today. He is #23 for the Hedgehogs for Humanity fundraiser and #27 overall. Tomorrow I will felt the remaining four and send them out into the world.

And I figured since I hit that target a week early why not try and hit my 60 min target a week early too. And I did. I’m officially an hour long runner. And I feel pretty good. I just need to get one other run this week up to its final time and I will declare my self a graduate of the one hour runner program. My plan is to hold there for a while until I get bored with it. I figure that will be January or so, then I’ll figure out what I want to train for next. It will either be a 10k or a 10 miler.
While I had my camera out, I decided to get some snaps of my turtles. Like usual one of them went running for the hills (okay he ran and hid behind his log). The other one was startled but stayed close by enough for me to get some photos. I can’t remember which is Crush and which is Squirt. But I’m pretty sure this one is Crush. I played with Photoshop and did a nice fresco effect on it.

What to pack…
October 13, 2006 on 12:00 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI’m starting to think about what I want to pack since I leave in TWO WEEKS! So, do I take Creasures of the Reef Shawl or should I take my bamboo sock yarn (pattern yet to be determined, but I’m thinking maybe Wendy’s feathers and fan pattern. Or maybe take both?
I just ordered a set of Max the dog sock blockers, eventhough I fondly refer to them as my Gromit sock blockers. It would be nice to have some socks to block when I got back. Or I could take the two sock WIPs I haven’t touched since I started the crazy hedgehog scheme or maybe the super secret project. Oh decisions decisions!
On the hedgehog front 21 down 2 to go!
“Are you still running?”
October 11, 2006 on 12:00 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWhy does that question bother me so much? Maybe because they seem to be expecting the answer to be no. I would much rather they ask how the running is going or something that doesn’t make it sound like they expect me to quit any second now.
It is especially annoying when a co-worker I talked to yesterday about my 5k asks me that. No, since I’ve done my 5k, I feel there is nothing to work towards. Is that what he is expecting me to answer? If anything I’m annoyed that the 5k interrupted my training schedule. I wasn’t training for the 5k. I’m currently training to get my long run to an hour (should be there in the next week or two). I figured that I was running longer than 3.1 miles so I signed up for my first race.
So, what is my plan after I get to an hour? I’m going to Disneyland… err I mean New Zealand. I’m taking my running shoes with me, so I hope I can get a couple of runs in. I know I won’t be able to stick to a training schedule, but I just don’t want to lose too much of what I worked towards. After I get back, I’ll probably work back up to an hour. Then I’ll stay there for a bit. I want to get to about 20 miles per week. After that, who knows maybe I’ll train for some 10ks, a 10 miler, or maybe even a half marathon.
Bad Hedgehog!

Three of these hedgehogs are for co-workes, but the fourth one tried to get a free trip out of the deal! I found her (second from the left) hiding in the hedgehog delivery bag (big plastic yellow gift bag that fits three hedgehogs perfectly). I don’t think she was too happy when I found her. I left her in the living room with the hard hat on to try and cheer her up. She is an adventurous sort and wants to see the world. I keep telling her to just wait a couple of weeks (17 days to be precise).
Pictures Galore
October 9, 2006 on 12:00 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI received my wool/angora sock yarn in the mail on Saturday as well as a couple of other things. So, here is a picture of my new Autumn Leaves sock yarn with the bamboo sock yard I got earlier in the week.

I faintly see the end of the hegehog knitting. I started on my err… 19th? hedgehog on Thursday but didn’t have the eyelash yarn for him so I started the front of the next one. Well, I decided to just finish all the fronts that I had left and then start to add backs. So, now I have a pile of fronts waiting to get finished up…

Not to mention the pile of four hedgehogs waiting to get felted! Okay they aren’t really waiting anymore since I felted them this morning and they are currently on the shoe rack in the dryer.
