Monster Mash

Between sleeping, napping, and watching stuff on the tv, I did manage to get some things accomplished.

I was thisclose to finishing the last sleeve on the NZ Mohair Cardigan, so first thing Saturday, that is what I did. I still have seaming and the buttonband left to finished. But first I need to assemble a little robot for my nephew’s birthday.

I received January’s Spunky Fiber club this weekend, so I pulled out October’s Monster Mash and started spinning. The last one I spun was Romeny and it reminded me of the fiber I first started to spin with. I’m enjoying the Falkland much more. I’m not finished reading the spinning book I bought last month, but I’m already starting to implement what I’ve learned so far. From what I gather, the book is mostly about point of draft and I’m currently doing long draft. I guess I have to lose the reliance on my right hand for it to become point of draft. But I’m happy with the results so far.

Isn’t it Ironic

I’m scheduled to work a high profile satellite test that pumped down today (the test is thermal vacuum for those fluent in satellite environmental testing). I have two shifts this week. Then next Thursday I start 5 on 1 off for 17 days.

The first version of the shift schedule had me working every Tuesday starting this week but not Feb 10th. So, I couldn’t make any of the band practices for the next concert which is on Feb 10th. The next and more recent shift schedules (the test was delayed, thus the updated shift schedules) gave me all the Tuesdays off, but I’m scheduled to work the 10th. I would ask for the day off so I could play the concert, but I already told everyone I couldn’t play it.

And the ironic thing? I can’t play the space concert (Mars, Jupiter, The Right Stuff, Star Wars) because I’m scheduled to babysit an interplanetary satellite.

And because it is a high profile test, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do any knitting during the down times like usual. But we shall see…

What I did over the weekend…

Well, first I had friends over and I stitched on Phoenix (no pictures, sorry). Then on Sunday, I measured out the warp for a brushed mohair scarf. I got the loom mostly warped. I’ll finish that tonight and start weaving. I’m using boucle mohair that I bought from Jean from her stash sale earlier this month.

A Thanks! and a thanks

The Thanks! goes out to Annette for the really cute little hedgehog. I have no idea why people now think of me when they see hedgehogs.

The other thanks, goes to Gwena Lynn for posting the Personal Penguin link on the Wagon. Since I downloaded the MP3, I’ve been singing, “I want be your personal penguin” non-stop!

And my book arrived… again! I was almost getting worried. My Handknit Style II book had a publication error and the replacement arrived today with all the pages included this time. It would have really sucked if my replacement had the same error. I’m thinking of doing the Pink Cabled Cardigan as my prize for running the half marathon in May.
