February 26, 2007 on 12:00 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI don’t usually do these, but I got curious and wanted to know how many of these I have seen. It’s been said that allegedly if you’ve seen over 85 movies you have no life. Mark the ones you’ve seen. There are 239 films on this list. Copy this list, go to your own blog, paste it in and put x’s by the ones that you have seen. Add them up, change the header adding your number, and post it.

I’m Alive!
February 21, 2007 on 1:00 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI’m back from the testing from hell. Okay, it wasn’t nearly as bad as I was fearing. I even got a little bit of knitting in. I finished a sleeve from my NZ mohair cardigan, I worked on my second Jaywalker sock (not finished yet), I knit a hat from handspun, and I started a scarf for Sandi. I was able to get to Sue’s only once and that was the only time I did any stitching. The last time I ran was Jan 27th when I did 6 miles. Monday we tried again, but the road was snow and ice covered (the joys of running on a gravel road). We’re going to check it again tonight.
I have three and a half days in my office before I’m off on a business trip to sunny CA for three days. Then one day in the office before DH and I go to Kauai for a week. Busy busy busy. And boy do I feel swamped and overwhelmed right now. I’m hoping to be able to dig out before I disappear again. I was even contemplating doing some work on the laptop while in Hawaii. That thought lasted for maybe five seconds.
Okay, I’m not a polar bear
February 6, 2007 on 1:00 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsAnd the current cold snap is probably all my fault because of my last entry. It was actually so cold out last night (13F with a windchill of like -1F) that I skipped my scheduled run. I’m hoping it will get back into the twenties before tomorrow so I can get the rest of this week’s runs in.
So, now I’m wearing a winter coat, but I forgot to bring hat, gloves, and a scarf. It would have helped when I needed to make the 1/4 mile trek to another building this morning for a meeting. And I even finished a nice wool hat last night. I used September’s Spunky Fiber, Leaf Peep, to knit a Fake Isle Hat.
In other words, I went from this…
To this…
To this…
Woe is me…
February 3, 2007 on 1:00 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI think it is a nice Saturday outside. I don’t really know, since I haven’t been out (or near a window) since about 1:30 and I won’t get released from here until after 10pm. I have a chance to get Monday off, I might give that some thought (well, not really off, just in my office instead of here). And where is here? Somewhere in DC is where. I’m on babysitting duty. Luckily things have settled down a bit with the satellite and I was finally about to pull out my knitting. The last four shifts I’ve worked have been busy busy busy. But now it isn’t so busy and I’m actually all alone. Everyone else has gone home and won’t be back until Monday! So, I’ll be all alone tomorrow too.
While I usually enjoy these brief breaks from sitting in my office, now is not really a good time for one of my programs. And this isn’t really a brief break since it is a 4 week test instead of the usual 2. I’m sure it will get old real fast. My days are usually wake up before 10am, go for a run, shower, hop in the car and drive 1+ hr and then sit here for 8 hours, hop back into the car, get home, putz around for a bit, go to bed.
And speaking of running. I think running outside (this morning it was 24F) has hardened me to this winter weather. I haven’t pulled out my winter coat yet and I haven’t used more than just a sweater for the past two (yesterday was a warm 40F). I guess I’m just strange. I would start to suspect it was extra layers of insulation (fat), but the scales are moving down a tiny bit and my measurements from last year show that I’ve reduced body fat (inches are down, scale went up a couple of pounds).
I’m really looking forward to this test being over. I’ll have a nice three day weekend on Presidents’ Day and then we leave for Hawaii on the 3rd of March for one week. Wait… I leave for Hawaii in exactly 1 month!
