Snug as a Bug
March 31, 2008 on 9:57 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWell, I tried out the fleecy thing on Saturday for Noah’s party. And I should have known better. He was happy and asleep for about twenty minutes (fifteen of those was the car ride). But when he woke up, I checked and he was roasting in there! (it was 50 out and the party was at a local park).
But I think everyone had fun (even if it was nap time for most of the little ones). Noah seemed to have enjoyed his cake.
And I got Scott to take a picture of me and Henry. Since I’m usually behind the camera, I have very few pictures of the two of us.
You are a new mom when…
March 28, 2008 on 5:18 pm | In Uncategorized | 2 CommentsYou look down at your pants during a meeting and notice spit-up on the lower leg… I had thought he only hit my sleeve this morning, but nope somehow it got on my pants too. And I didn’t notice it until about 2:30!
I finished the first Monkey sock the other day and for the first time ever, I grafted the toe correctly. I ended up having to knit some waste yarn on to get the graft correct. Next time I’ll try the instructions on Knitty.
Since they are going so fast/well, I restarted the pair of gift socks I’ve had in the works as Monkeys.
I won’t be posting again until Monday, so everyone wish Noah a happy 1st birthday! Hopefully it won’t be too cold tomorrow since his birthday party is outside at a park (I heard low 50s). I’m planning on bundling Henry up in blankets for the event. I might even put the fleecy thing on the infant carrier (I’ve never used it).
Monkey Pics
March 25, 2008 on 9:17 am | In Knitting | 1 CommentI was able to find the time to take some pictures, so here you go… my progress as of last night. The yarn seems perfect for the leg and went a bit wonky when I had extra stitches while I was working on the gusset. But it has gone back to nice rainbows after I finished that. I’m happy since I was expecting the entire thing to be more on the wonky side. So, the pictures you get are the entire socks, a close-up of the pattern on the leg, a close-up of the pattern during the gusset, and the last picture is my progress on the baby blanket. My new needle tips arrived yesterday (talk about fast!) so I was able to start working on that again. But I have to say that the garter stitch baby blanket isn’t as much fun as the rainbow monkey socks.
And yet again, because I can…
Dinky Monkey
March 24, 2008 on 11:39 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsSince I couldn’t work on the baby blanket this weekend, I decided to finally start a pair of Monkey Socks using the Dinky Dyes sock yarn I bought at CATS in September. The yarn is sparkly rainbow colored and the stars must have been aligned just right since I’m getting a really cool rainbow effect with 64 stitches on size 2 needles. And they are going really fast. I started Friday night and I’m currently finishing up the gusset (they are top down). Once my camera and compact flash card are in the same room, I’ll get a photo of it. I’ll also get some photos of my broken needles and the baby blanket (I’m on the first of two intarsia blocks).
You know how they say things come in threes? Well, after breaking my needles on Thursday night, DH broke the scale on Saturday morning (not sure why since his weight is going down with all the running he is doing in the mornings) and then Saturday afternoon we discovered that our water bed sprung a leak. We had been thinking about replacing it anyway since with the multiple moves (from Sue’s house to ours and then again after we bought the house), the baffling was all wonky. Until we can figure out what we want, we put our old mattress on the bed. I’m not sure how long we will be able to live with it before we start screaming in pain and run out and pay lots of money for a Select Comfort bed.
Freak Knitting Accident…
March 21, 2008 on 11:50 am | In Uncategorized | 2 CommentsScott asked me if I had a freak knitting accident when I wandered in last night all sad and showed him the state of my lovely size 6 tips from my Knit Picks Harmony set. One tip had pulled out of the metal and the other had snapped. Actually the first tip had pulled out a while ago and I just shoved it back on and continued knitting. But for sympathy I pulled it out when I went to show Scott. And I think I might have leaned a little on my knitting when it was on the couch just before the second one broke.
This morning I called Knit Picks and they are sending me a new set of tips. Hopefully I wrote down the correct tips size in my notebook on Ravelry since I didn’t confirm the size this morning.
And on a different note, what kind of place that delivers things (like edible flower arrangements) charge extra for delivery?
And because I can, here is another cute baby picture…
